Why "Cat for A Day"
Each morning, as I am getting ready for my workday, I glance at my cat, lounging in the warmth of the morning sun, contently curled into a small ball, resting with ease. As the sun spot shifts, she gets up to follow it. She stretches with such deep intention, I imagine she could lead a yoga class. As I pause to watch her, I quip “I would like to be a cat for a day”.
This feeling combined with some facts about cats, such as, they conserve energy by sleeping an average of 14 hours a day and, they love to play; confirms for me, that we as humans, could learn a few lessons from our furry friends. And with this in mind the inspiration for Cat for a Day Meditation Retreat was born.
Our retreats, professional training and workshops are a time for rest, play, and restoration….a chance to simply follow the sunspot. In his book the “The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching” Thich Nhat Hanh, echoes this sentiment:
”We have to learn the art of resting, allowing our body and mind to rest…calming allows us to rest, and resting is a precondition for healing.”
